Charter Yacht Cruising Area

Over the last 10 years Asia has become an increasingly popular area for yacht charter.  There are some very good reasons for this; beautiful islands and coastlines with white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, the wonderfully exotic culture and 10 years on, cruising areas in Asia are still uncrowded and very clean.

Depending on the area the best months for yacht charter are outside the monsoon season from August to November.  The north east breeze blowing at this time lowers the humidity and reduces the rain to the occasional refreshing tropical downpour.  Temperatures are consistent all year round at between 23 –34 degrees C.

Thailand – Skippered Yacht Charter

The island of Phuket with its international airport and facilities makes it a perfect Thailand base.  The buzz of Phuket nightlife is a major attraction throughout Asia and is a great contrast to the isolated islands and beaches found within a short cruising distance.

Superb anchorages are found in Phang Nga Bay.  Famous for the sheer limestone stacks the best way to explore the caves is using a dinghy.  Cruise on to Koh Phi Phi, one of the most spectacular islands of Thailand. Enjoy magnificent scenery, secluded bays and white sandy beaches on your yacht charter holiday. Follow a jungle trail on a mountain trek or enjoy swimming in the clear, turquoise waters. Relax on Kemana and enjoy the warmth of the tropical sun.

There are hundreds of less developed islands to enjoy on your yacht charter vacation. The area is home to several national parks and reefs, which offer great opportunities for diving and fishing. In the Similian Is lands, there is some fantastic game fishing and the lure of the famous Black Marlin. Thailand is a romantic and alluring destination for any yacht charter vacation. It has everything you could hope for in man and nature. The sailing conditions are perfect all year, the environment is stunning, the people delightful, and the food, delicious.

Malaysia – Skippered Yacht Charter

Malaysia has long been the trading point between west and east and is one of the most easy and inviting countries to visit in southeast Asia.  Malaysian culture has today become an exotic and interesting mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous customs.

The islands off the northeast coast of Malaysia are an exceptional yacht charter cruising ground where many of the most beautiful islands are only accessible by private boat.

Langkawi is one of the largest of the hundred islands and has invested in tourism over the last few years providing luxury hotels, modern marinas for charter yachts and international standard restaurants.   Development has not overshadowed Langkawi’s natural beauty found in the ancient rainforests, white sand beaches, amazing caves and lakes and stunning limestone hills.

Away from Langkawi, the many other small islands offer you the opportunity to safely explore what will feel like unchartered waters.  The clear waters surrounding all the islands entice even the most nervous swimmer.  Snorkel for a glimpse or dive to completely embrace the delights of the marine life below.

And yes, it’s true, with such a mix of cultures the Malaysian cuisine is fantastic.  Wherever you choose to go ashore there seems to be no limit to the variety of food; Indian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian.  Sometimes distinct, sometimes fusion.

Planning your holiday

We would be delighted to help you plan your holiday. 

Initially you need to decide what time of year you are planning to travel and how much time you wish to spend with us.  Kemana is based in Phuket, Thailand from the end of November to the end of March and Tioman, Malaysia for June to September.

Once this is decided and who is travelling with you it is on to the exciting part of deciding how you want to spend your time – small quiet anchorages where you feel like you’re the only yacht for miles or near to the buzz of Phuket’s nightlife, practising your sailing skills and racing the feva dinghies or fishing out at sea, cruising small distances and getting to know a small area or exploring a region.
